This Foreign Extra Stout presents a cozy, spiced profile evocative of holiday baking. The base offers robust notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee, while the gingerbread infusion introduces warming ginger, cinnamon, and a hint of molasses. Despite the lower ABV for the style, it retains a characteristic richness. The dark, opaque body is crowned by a dense, creamy tan head. On the palate, the roast bitterness is balanced by the spiced sweetness of the gingerbread, finishing with a lingering, earthy dryness. It is a refined, comforting stout with a smooth, velvety mouthfeel.

Appearance. Very deep brown to near-opaque black (30-40 SRM); large, dense, creamy tan head with excellent retention and thick lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high roasted malt intensity featuring dark chocolate and espresso. This is layered with distinct gingerbread spice notes—primarily ginger and sweet cinnamon—alongside subtle molasses and low dark fruit esters. Hop aroma is negligible.

Taste. The initial impression is of rich, roasted grains and cocoa. Mid-palate reveals prominent ginger spice and a touch of biscuit malt sweetness. Bitterness is moderate but smoothed by the spice profile. It finishes moderately dry with lingering notes of lightly burnt grain and earthy spice.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a noticeably creamy, smooth texture. Carbonation is moderate. Despite the 4.8% ABV, there is a slight, pleasant warmth attributed to the ginger additions rather than alcohol.
