This American Pale Ale serves as a vibrant showcase for the singular Citra hop variety. The sensory experience is lead by a high-intensity hop profile, bursting with aromas of pink grapefruit, passion fruit, and lime zest. A lean but supportive malt backbone consisting of neutral pale malts provides a clean, slightly bready foundation that ensures the hop character remains the focus. On the palate, the tropical fruit notes are balanced by a firm, refreshing bitterness that avoids harshness. Crisp and highly drinkable, it concludes with a dry finish and a lingering citrus resonance characteristic of the style.
Appearance. Deep golden color (approximately 6 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderately large, frothy white head that shows good retention and leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring distinct Citra characteristics of grapefruit, melon, and lychee. A low, neutral, grainy-sweet maltiness provides a supportive base. Fermentation profile is very clean with negligible yeast-derived esters.
Taste. Leading with a bright hop-forward impression of tropical fruit and citrus. Moderate to high bitterness is well-integrated with a light, toasted cracker malt flavor. The balance is decisively towards the hops, finishing clean and medium-dry with a lingering essence of lime and passion fruit.
