Hugo Blanche is a vibrant and effervescent Witbier that radiates a refreshing, sunny character. This pale, hazy ale presents an inviting bouquet of soft, bready malt and subtle honey, intertwined with the classic perfumy zest of orange peel and the lemony, peppery snap of coriander. On the palate, the inclusion of unmalted wheat provides a signature smooth, creamy texture that is immediately lifted by high carbonation. Delicate herbal spice and bright citrus notes dance over a light grain base, leading to a crisp, dry finish. It is a sophisticated, lively gentleman of a beer, perfectly suited for any season.
Appearance. Very pale straw with a distinct milky, whitish-yellow haze from suspended yeast and starch. Features a dense, white, moussy head with excellent retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a core of bready, grainy malt and light honey-like sweetness. Pronounced citrusy-orange fruitiness blends with perfumy, lemony coriander and a background of peppery spice. No hop aroma is present.
Taste. Initial impression is of pleasant bready grain and mild sweetness, followed by zesty orange and herbal-spicy coriander flavors. Hop bitterness is low, serving only to balance the malt without adding flavor. The finish is refreshingly crisp and dry with a lingering citrus note.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a notable smoothness and light creaminess. Highly carbonated and effervescent, providing a prickly and refreshing sensation on the tongue. No alcohol warmth or astringency.
