This German Helles Exportbier offers a robust, cellar-conditioned profile characterized by an intensive eight-week lagering period. It pours with a gentle haze from being unfined and unfiltered, showcasing a deep gold hue. Aromas of grainy-sweet Pilsner malt lead the way, complemented by moderate floral and spicy hop notes. On the palate, a structured balance emerges between bready malt depth and a firm, mineral-edged bitterness. The natural carbonation provides a smooth, mellow texture, while the slightly elevated 6.5% ABV lends a subtle, sophisticated warmth. It finishes medium-dry with a lingering flinty sharpness and clean, classic lager fermentation character.
Appearance. Deep gold color (approx. 6 SRM). Being unfined and unfiltered, it presents a slight haze rather than brilliant clarity. Features a dense, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a clear grainy-sweet and doughy malt presence. Medium-low herbal and spicy hop character. Fermentation profile is very clean with no yeast-derived esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial malt richness of bread and toasted grain is quickly balanced by a medium, noticeable bitterness. A distinct mineral character contributes to a roundness of flavor and a dry, flinty sharpness in the finish. Hop flavors are spicy and herbal.
