Legless presents a crisp, modern take on the American Pale Ale, utilizing a clean lager yeast fermentation to provide a pristine canvas for its West Coast hop profile. The aroma is dominated by a vibrant bouquet of Citra, Motueka, and Amarillo, offering layers of bright lime, zesty orange, and tropical stone fruit. On the palate, the hop-forward character persists with a firm, resinous bitterness that cuts through a lean, bready malt base. The finish is remarkably clean and dry, reflecting the "cold" fermentation approach, with lingering notes of citrus peel and floral spice from the Motueka and Amarillo. It is a refreshing, highly drinkable expression of New World hops.
Appearance. Pale gold with brilliant clarity. Features a moderately large, white, frothy head with excellent retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with prominent notes of lime zest, grapefruit, and crushed tropical fruit. Floral and orange-like scents are evident. Malt is low and neutral-grainy. Fermentation is exceptionally clean with no yeast esters.
Taste. Vibrant hop flavors of lime, mango, and pine dominate the palate. Bitterness is moderate-high and firm, supporting a dry, crisp finish. Low bready malt character provides a lean backbone. The balance is decidedly hop-forward, leading to a clean, non-astringent aftertaste with lingering citrus peel.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, refreshing texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. No alcohol warmth or astringency is present.
