Freefall is a powerful Double IPA that showcases an explosive Southern Hemisphere hop profile. Intense aromas of zesty lime from Motueka and pungent pink grapefruit from Riwaka dominate the senses, complemented by the tropical passionfruit and white grape notes of Kohia Nelson. The use of SubZero Hop Kief amplifies the resinous saturation without adding harshness. A lean, neutral malt base allows these complex oils to shine, leading to a clean, deceptively dry finish. At 10.2% ABV, a smooth, integrated warmth supports the firm bitterness, creating a high-impact, aromatically-driven experience typical of modern, high-strength hop-forward ales.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange with a slight hop haze typical of heavy dry-hopping. Features a creamy, persistent off-white head that leaves dense lacing.
Aroma. Highly intense aromatics featuring dominant notes of crushed lime, passionfruit, and Sauvignon Blanc grape. Substantial resinous pine and subtle diesel-like dankness are present, supported by a very low, bready malt sweetness and a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial punch of tropical fruit and citrus zest transitions into a firm, clean bitterness. The hop flavors mirror the aroma with significant lime and stone fruit character. The malt is supportive and neutral, ensuring a dry, crisp finish with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth provides a pleasant glow without being hot or solventy.
