Willibald Farm Brewery Export Stout captures the robust spirit of European tradition with a deeply roasted and inviting character. Poured into a glass, it unleashes potent aromas of freshly ground espresso beans and bitter dark chocolate, complemented by a low, earthy hop presence and a whisper of dark fruit esters. The palate is greeted by a wave of unsweetened cocoa and lightly charred grain, balanced by a firm hop bitterness that lingers cleanly into a dry finish. True to its heritage, a soft carbonation lends a smooth, velvety texture to the medium-full body, making this a remarkably balanced and satisfying Export Stout.
Appearance. Opaque, very deep brown to jet black in color. It supports a thick, creamy, long-lasting tan head that leaves dense, persistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high aroma of heavily roasted grains, evocative of dark French roast coffee and bittersweet chocolate. A low, earthy hop aroma is present in the background, alongside subtle dark fruit esters reminiscent of dried plum. Very clean fermentation profile with a barely perceptible hint of warming alcohol.
Taste. Initiates with a bold, roasty punch of espresso and dark baker's chocolate, without being overly harsh. Medium-low dark fruit esters provide depth beneath a firm, assertive hop bitterness. Earthy, herbal hop flavors are low but present, contributing to a balanced-bitter structure. Finishes moderately dry with a lingering, pleasant roasty bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth, creamy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is soft and gentle, accentuating the beer's weight without prickle. A mild, comforting alcohol warmth is present but beautifully integrated.
