This juicy American Pale Ale showcases a vibrant collaboration, blending Lager malt and oats to create a soft, supple foundation. The sensory experience is led by a punchy aromatic profile of tropical fruit and bright tangerine, driven by Citra and Waimea hops on the hot side. The addition of the New Zealand Betty dry-hop blend adds layers of stone fruit and white grape. Fermented with a signature hazy yeast, the beer delivers a lush, fruity ester profile that complements the hops. It balances a crisp, grainy malt backbone with a modern, juicy finish, making for an approachable yet complex session-strength ale.
Appearance. Pours a pale golden color (approx. 5 SRM). Due to the use of oats and a hazy yeast strain, the clarity is characterized by a persistent, soft haze. Features a moderately large, frothy white head with good retention and light lacing.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent notes of tropical fruit, tangerine, and lime. The New Zealand Betty blend contributes nuances of white grape and stone fruit. A low, neutral, grainy maltiness from the Lager malt supports the hop profile. Esters are moderate, displaying pear and peach qualities from the hazy yeast strain.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of citrus zest, mango, and a hint of resinous pine. Malt flavor is low but provides a clean, crackery base with a subtle bready roundness from the oats. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as soft, balancing the fruity sweetness without being harsh. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with lingering notes of tropical fruit.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a noticeably smooth, almost silky texture provided by the oats. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a refreshing effervescence. Alcohol warmth is negligible given the session-strength ABV. No astringency present.
