This sophisticated take on an Ordinary Bitter presents a modern hop profile atop a traditional British foundation. Mashed with pale malt and a blend of oats, the beer offers a silky texture that carries a juicy punch. Cryo-Citra delivers vibrant citrus notes on the nose, while a generous dry hop of Mosaic and Cascade adds layers of floral complexity and grapefruit. Despite its sessionable roots, the specially selected yeast leaves a higher residual sweetness and a smooth, sweet finish. The result is a balanced ale where the bready malt character harmonizes with contemporary, fruit-forward hop intensity.
Appearance. Pale amber in color with a slight haze from the oat addition. Features a moderate, creamy white head with good retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring bright citrus, lemon zest, and tropical fruit from the Citra and Mosaic hops. Beneath the hops, a light bready and biscuity malt aroma persists, complemented by subtle floral notes from Cascade and moderate fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a blend of bready malt and soft citrus. A medium bitterness is balanced by a distinct residual sweetness that lingers into the finish. Hop flavors of grapefruit and berries transition into a floral mid-palate. The finish is notably sweeter and smoother than the style standard, lacking the traditional dry finish due to the yeast-driven high gravity.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a noticeably smooth, creamy texture derived from the oats. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle prickle, while the alcohol provides a light, well-integrated warmth.

At Wild Card, we champion inclusivity and equality in everything we do - they are the key foundations our brewery is built on. For us, International Women's Day is a day of recognition, one for celebrating the significant contributions women have made to the industry.
The series contains three beers, all pale, hazy, hoppy and falling within the 4-6% range. To devise a visual language for this concept, we called upon one of our favourite illustrators, Anna Borup, to produce drawings which would celebrate the female brewers challenging the stereotypes of a male-dominated industry.
