West Kill Brewing’s Doodlebug is a crisp, mountain-fresh German Pils with a modern American twist. Brewed with local Catskills well water, it exhibits a distinct mineral sharpness that accentuates its dry, refreshing finish. The base of Pilsner malt provides a delicate foundation of toasted cracker and light honey, while a light dry-hopping of American hops introduces vibrant floral and spicy aromatics. It balances a firm, clean bitterness with a lean body, offering a snappy carbonation that scrubs the palate. This lager marries traditional structure with a bright, hop-forward character, epitomizing a clean and highly sessionable Adirondack-inspired pilsner.

Appearance. Brilliant straw gold (approx. 3 SRM) with exceptional clarity; supports a thick, creamy, long-lasting white head with fine-beaded lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to moderately-high intensity featuring floral and spicy American hop notes; supported by a low, clean grainy-sweet malt character reminiscent of fresh dough and light honey. Very clean fermentation with no detectable esters.

Taste. Initial soft grainy malt and cracker notes are quickly overtaken by a firm, clean hop bitterness. Hop flavors are floral and herbal. The finish is very dry and crisp, enhanced by a notable mineral quality from the Catskills well water. Clean, bitter, and lingering aftertaste.
