Imperial IPA 8 º
This Hazy Double IPA showcases a vibrant, saturated profile driven by an intricate blend of Citra, El Dorado, Motueka, and Nelson Sauvin hops. The nose is a tropical explosion of ripe mango and zesty lime, underscored by the unique crushed gooseberry and white grape notes characteristic of Nelson Sauvin. On the palate, El Dorado provides a candy-like watermelon sweetness, while Citra adds layers of bright grapefruit. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably smooth, offering a soft, pillowy mouthfeel and a restrained bitterness that highlights the fruit-forward hop character. It finishes with a clean, juicy persistence and a refreshing hint of lime.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (6-7 SRM). Opaque, milky haze with a dense, frothy white head that exhibits excellent retention and heavy lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and passion fruit. Distinctive Nelson Sauvin provides white wine and gooseberry accents, while Motueka adds a bright lime zest. Malt is low, neutral, and grainy. Light esters of peach and apricot.
Taste. Lush hop flavors of grapefruit, watermelon, and tropical lime dominate the palate. Citra and El Dorado provide a juicy fruit-punch character. Bitterness is moderate and smooth, balancing the soft malt sweetness. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering, resinous fruit skin aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, creamy, and soft body. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being harsh. No astringency.
