A refined interpretation of the German Pils, this bright yellow-gold lager showcases the crisp, assertive character often associated with northern expressions of the style. The profile opens with a high intensity of herbal and spicy hop aromas, backed by a delicate layer of grainy-sweet malt. Despite its Bavarian origins, it presents a lean, light body and a decidedly dry finish, where 32 IBUs of firm bitterness take center stage. The clean fermentation allows the interplay between the cracker-like malt and traditional noble hops to shine, resulting in a refreshing, elegant beer with a sharp, lingering bitterness that invites the next sip.
Appearance. 3 SRM; brilliant, gold-yellow clarity; large, creamy, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderately-high spicy and herbal hop intensity; low grainy-sweet and doughy malt character; exceptionally clean fermentation profile with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial light grainy malt flavor is quickly overtaken by a prominent herbal hop flavor and firm bitterness; 32 IBU provides a sharp, assertive balance; very dry, crisp finish with a lingering clean bitterness and a hint of mineral character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body; high carbonation; crisp and refreshing with no alcohol warmth or astringency.
