This American IPA presents a bold, sensory-forward profile defined by a classic trio of American hops. At 7.4% ABV, it leans into the stronger side of the style, delivering an intense aromatic punch of grapefruit, orange zest, and pine needles courtesy of Cascade and Centennial. The addition of Citra introduces vibrant tropical undertones of mango and lychee that dance over a lean, grainy malt base. Its assertive bitterness is balanced by a clean fermentation profile, leading to a crisp, dry finish. This beer captures the essence of a modern extra strength IPA, emphasizing resinous depth and bright citrus oil character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (8-11 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a medium-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by citrus zest, floral notes, and resinous pine. Distinctive tropical notes of mango and passion fruit are present, supported by a low, clean, grainy malt character and a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. High hop flavor featuring grapefruit pith, pine resin, and tropical fruit. A low, clean maltiness provides a supportive backdrop of light toast. Bitterness is high and assertive but remains smooth. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high, and a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present in the finish without any harshness.
