Weekend Project

Elephant Rock is a powerful Double IPA that showcases a quintessential blend of classic and modern American hops. A potent aromatic profile led by Cascade, Simcoe, Centennial, Citra, and Chinook delivers a complex tapestry of resinous pine, grapefruit zest, and bright citrus blossoms. The palate is defined by a clean, lean malt foundation that allows the assertive bitterness to dominate without becoming harsh. Flavors of lemon peel and earthy spice from the Chinook and Simcoe hops transition into a remarkably dry and crisp finish. Despite its strength, the alcohol is masterfully integrated, providing a smooth warmth that enhances the intense hop-forward character.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (8-10 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate-sized, creamy, off-white head that demonstrates excellent persistence and leaves thick lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit and orange zest from Cascade and Centennial, supported by the dank, resinous pine of Simcoe. A subtle tropical fruitiness from Citra lingers in the background, set against a very low, clean, neutral-grainy malt profile. Low fruity esters and a soft, clean alcohol presence are detectable.

Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of citrus pith, resinous sap, and floral spice dominate from the first sip. The malt character is low and soft, providing just enough support to prevent the assertive, high bitterness from becoming astringent. The fermentation is clean, leading to a very dry finish with a long-lingering, resinous, and bitter aftertaste that invites another sip.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop oils. Medium-high carbonation provides a crisp bite. A restrained and smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no harshness or solvent notes.
