This indulgent Sweet Stout is a sensory collaboration featuring Grumpy Donuts and Toby’s Estate roasters, delivering the quintessential coffee-and-pastry experience. It pours an opaque ebony with a dense, creamy tan head. The aroma is lead by the sugary, doughy scent of glazed donuts and the earthy, chocolate-forward profile of the Toby’s Estate gently roasted beans. On the palate, a lush milk chocolate and espresso-and-cream character dominates, bolstered by the silky addition of lactose. The experience concludes with a smooth, lingering pastry-like sweetness and a mild, rounded bitterness that perfectly balances the rich, dessert-like profile of this full-bodied ale.

Appearance. Opaque black (approx. 38 SRM) with a thick, persistent, creamy tan head and excellent lacing.

Aroma. High intensity of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, paired with a distinct doughy, fried-pastry sweetness. Low earthy hop aroma is present, alongside a cream-like sweetness from lactose and a hint of vanilla. Fruity esters are low.

Taste. Initial impression is decadently sweet. Dominant flavors of sweetened espresso and milk chocolate are layered over a cake-like donut character. Moderate bitterness provides balance against a high residual sweetness that lasts into the finish. Low earthy hop flavor; clean fermentation with very low dark fruit esters.
