This American IPA, crafted as a Cold IPA, presents a laser-focused sensory profile defined by its crisp, lean architecture. Intense aromatics of tropical passionfruit and bright grapefruit from Citra and Strata hops dominate the nose, underpinned by a pungent, resinous dankness from Columbus Cryo. On the palate, it is exceptionally dry and effervescent, stripping away malt weight to highlight a firm, clean bitterness. The finish is remarkably quick and refreshing, leaving behind lingering notes of pine needle and citrus zest. It exemplifies a modern, high-clarity approach where the hops are the undisputed protagonist against a neutral, ice-cold backdrop of crackery malt.
Appearance. Color is brilliant pale gold (4-6 SRM). Topped by a medium-sized, bright white head with excellent persistence and fine-beaded lacing. Exceptional, brilliant clarity.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passionfruit, mango, and ruby red grapefruit. A secondary layer of dank resin and pine needle emerges from the Columbus Cryo. Malt character is very low, suggesting crackery, grainy sweetness. Fermentation profile is exceptionally clean with no perceptible esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, clean bitterness followed immediately by explosive hop flavors of tropical fruit and resinous pine. Citra provides zesty citrus, while Strata adds a complex berry-like depth. Malt flavor is minimal, providing just enough grainy support to prevent harshness. Finishes bone-dry and crisp with a long, clean, hoppy aftertaste and persistent bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, snappy, and very clean mouthfeel. Carbonation is medium-high, enhancing the dry finish. No astringency despite the high bitterness; very smooth, subtle alcohol warmth is well-integrated and appropriate for the strength.
