Co-pitched with Voss Kveik and Lactobacillus, the sensory experience is layered with bright citrus and subtle tropical notes that complement the blueberry’s natural floral qualities. The fermentation provides a clean, tart foundation, allowing the authentic fruit character to lead without being overwhelmed by funk. It is a light, effervescent ale that balances the earthy skin of the blueberry with a zesty, orange-like ester profile, finishing crisp and bone-dry.
Appearance. Deep magenta to hazy violet-blue hue with a slight fruit-derived turbidity. The head is light pink-tinted, moderate in height with fair retention and minimal lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of fresh blueberry skins and jammy fruit. Distinctive citrus and orange peel esters from the Voss Kveik yeast mingle with a clean, sharp lactic sourness. Low malt presence, primarily doughy or crackery, with no detectable hop aroma.
Taste. An immediate burst of tart blueberry and lemon-like acidity. The mid-palate reveals tropical fruit esters and orange zest. Malt is minimal, providing a light crackery support. Hop bitterness is virtually absent, as the lactic acidity provides the structural balance. The finish is dry and refreshing with a lingering berry tartness.
