Wasatch Brewery’s Devastator is a quintessential Doppelbock that emphasizes a massive malt presence. It delivers intense aromas of toasted crust and dark fruit leather, primarily driven by a heavy use of Munich malt which provides a toasty complexity and light caramel notes. On the palate, the beer is remarkably rich and sweet, showcasing layers of Maillard products. Despite its 8% ABV, the alcohol is well-integrated, providing a subtle warmth that leads into a gentle, smooth finish. The clean lager fermentation ensures the focus remains on the decadent malt character, resulting in a comforting, liquid-bread experience.
