Celestial is a cosmic exploration of the Imperial Stout style, blending decadent depths with an ethereal lift. A collaboration between Wander Beyond and Lervig, this beer utilizes Norwegian Voss kveik yeast fermented at high temperatures. This unique fermentation path introduces gentle citrus and bright orange peel notes that dance atop a foundation of rich dark chocolate and freshly roasted coffee. While the roast remains smooth and restrained rather than acrid, it provides a sturdy backbone for the yeast-driven esters to shine. The result is a supremely good, complex profile where heavenly fruitiness meets the traditional, velvety weight of a massive, light-roast stout.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, persistent deep tan head that leaves significant lacing and exhibits visible legs on the glass, indicating high viscosity.
Aroma. High intensity and deeply complex. Dominant notes of bittersweet chocolate and cold-brew coffee are intertwined with distinct citrus esters reminiscent of orange marmalade, driven by the hot Voss kveik fermentation. Subtle undertones of dark fruits like raisins and prunes complement a soft, integrated alcohol warmth.
Taste. Rich initial impression of velvety chocolate and toasted bread, followed by a light coffee roastiness. The mid-palate reveals a bright, gentle citrus fruitiness that provides a unique counterpoint to the heavy malt base. Bitterness is moderate and firm, balancing the residual malt sweetness. It finishes with a harmonious blend of cocoa, orange zest, and a lingering, smooth warmth.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, enhancing the beer's creamy weight. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth provides a comforting glow without being sharp.

Ze hebben een pure keizerlijke stout gebrouwen genaamd Celestial met een lichte geroosterdheid en gefermenteerd met Noorse Voss kveik-gist. Dit bier mocht heel heet gisten en heeft zachte citrustonen voortgebracht die de chocolade- en koffiesmaken van het basisbier complimenteren. We zijn altijd dol geweest op de buitenaardse sfeer van de kunstwerken van Lervig, dus verdwaal in een uitgestrekte zee of lucht van hemelse stout. Het is geen toeval dat 'hemels' ook 'uiterst goed' betekent.
