This collaborative Coffee Beer, brewed with Wellington’s Flight Coffee, presents an inviting sensory bridge between a morning roast and an evening pint. Earlybird leads with an aromatic punch of freshly ground, high-quality coffee beans, layered over a rich, toasted malt foundation. The palate is defined by a creamy caramel body that provides a plush, velvety counterpoint to the roasted espresso notes. As a Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer, the integration is seamless; the coffee imparts depth and a hint of dark chocolate without overpowering the underlying malt sweetness. It finishes clean with a gentle, lingering roasted warmth and a smooth, balanced bitterness.
Appearance. Deep copper to mahogany brown (18–24 SRM). Topped by a dense, persistent tan head with fine lacing. Clear to brilliant clarity despite the infusion.
Aroma. High intensity of fresh-roasted coffee beans and cold-brew concentrate. Supporting malt notes of burnt sugar, caramel, and toasted bread. Hop aroma is nearly absent, allowing the Flight Coffee character to dominate. Low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial flavor is dominated by rich, earthy coffee and roasted grains. A mid-palate of creamy caramel and toffee provides substantial sweetness that balances the natural acidity of the coffee. Bitterness is moderate-low, derived more from the roast than hops. The finish is smooth and lingering, echoing notes of mocha and caramelized sugar.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably creamy, silken texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift. Very light alcohol warmth is well-integrated, enhancing the comfort of the brew. No significant astringency from the coffee infusion.
