Von Ebert Brewing Agostini Pils

Pilsner 5 º 41 IBU
Agostini Pils is a vibrant Italian-style take on the German Pils, presenting a sensory profile defined by its assertive, verdant hop character. The experience begins with a brilliant straw-gold pour topped by a persistent white head. The aroma is dominated by a modern hop bouquet featuring bright orange peel and cooling spearmint, layered over a clean, doughy Continental Pilsner malt base. On the palate, a crisp, high-carbonation snap delivers sharp hop bitterness and herbal depth. The finish is remarkably dry and refreshing, balancing the aromatic complexity of the dry-hopping with a classic, minerally lager precision that defines this 5% ABV sessionable beer.
Appearance. Brilliant straw to deep yellow (SRM 3); capped by a thick, creamy, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent notes of orange peel, fresh spearmint, and a verdant, grassy quality. Low grainy-sweet, doughy malt character provides a clean backdrop. Fermentation is exceptionally clean with no esters or sulfur.
Taste. Initial doughy malt flavors are quickly supplanted by assertive hop flavors of citrus zest and crushed herbs. Medium-high bitterness is firm and crisp, leading into a bone-dry finish. The aftertaste lingers with a pleasant herbal hop character and a subtle minerally sharpness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation, providing a refreshing and prickly mouthfeel. Smooth and clean without any harshness or astringency.

Von Ebert Agostini Pils

Named after Giacomo Agostini, the legendary Italian motorcycle racer during the 60’s and 70’s. We named the beer in honor of him as he was a winner and we think this beer is a winner as well. It’s hard these days as we try to fit everything into categories or styles and beer, especially in the US is very prone to this. We view Italian-style Pilsner’s as a continuation or creative evolution of the German-style Pilsner’s.

First brewed by Agostino Arioli of Birrifico Italiano, Tipopils really set the benchmark for what we see today. The goal with Von Ebert Agostini Pils was to showcase newer European hop varieties in the dry-hopping of this beer. In our case, we chose Styrian Cardinal. This Slovenian variety really brings a wonderful blend of spearmint and orange peel that complimented the noble hops used in the kettle and whirlpool. The other target for us was to create a dry, crisp finish that would allow the dry-hop to fully be expressed.
