Tan Lines is a vibrant American IPA that perfectly captures the classic West Coast spirit. A heavy-handed addition of C-hops drives the sensory experience, delivering an intense aromatic punch of resinous pine sap and zesty grapefruit. On the palate, a bold, assertive bitterness cuts through with clean precision, supported by a lean foundation of pale malts offering subtle notes of toasted grain. The finish is decisively dry and lingering, showcasing the resinous qualities of the hops. At 7.1% ABV, it provides a gentle, well-integrated warmth, making it a robust companion for charred, savory flavors while remaining refreshingly bright and citrus-forward.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber in color. Brilliant clarity with a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit, lemon zest, and pungent pine resin. Low, clean, bready and slightly grainy malt support. Clean fermentation profile with no significant yeast esters.
Taste. Dominant hop flavors of citrus peel and resinous pine. High bitterness is firm and clean, cutting through the palate. Low toasted malt character provides a brief mid-palate balance before transitioning into a long, dry, and aggressively bitter finish.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Moderate-high carbonation provides a crisp bite. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is noticeable but well-integrated.
