Appearance. Jet black (40 SRM) and completely opaque. Pours with a thick, dark tan head with moderate retention and significant lacing. High viscosity is evident through visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Rich roasted malt character featuring dark chocolate, cocoa, and light coffee notes. Prominent fruity esters of jammy plum and tart raspberry. Subtle background earthiness. Well-integrated alcohol warmth without solventy notes.
Taste. Rich and sweet initial impression. Layers of bittersweet chocolate and roasted grain balance the bold, juicy raspberry and deep plum flavors. Medium-high bitterness is present but tempered by the high residual sweetness and fruit sugars. Complex finish with lingering dark fruit skins and a warming, smooth alcohol character.
Mouthfeel. Full and chewy body with a velvety, luscious texture. Moderate-low carbonation. Noticeable, smooth alcohol warmth is present as a background character. Creamy and coating with no significant astringency.
