This elevated Oatmeal Stout presents a rich, gourmand profile that bridges the gap between a classic dark ale and a refined dessert. The addition of tonka beans infuses the aromatic profile with luxurious notes of vanilla, almond, and subtle cinnamon, which beautifully complement the base's roasted coffee and milk chocolate character. Despite its 7.5% ABV, the beer maintains a remarkable drinkability. The signature silkiness from the oatmeal provides a velvety, smooth mouthfeel that carries the roasted malt and spice into a balanced, lingering finish. It is an opaque, mahogany-hued pour that balances indulgence with a clean, pint-friendly structure.
Appearance. Opaque black with deep mahogany highlights (35-40 SRM). Features a thick, persistent, tan-colored head with excellent creamy lacing.
Aroma. High intensity with a coffee-and-cream impression. Strong notes of vanilla and marzipan from the tonka beans mingle with dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and a light grainy-nutty oatmeal sweetness. Low earthy hop aroma and moderate dark fruit esters.
Taste. Initial impression of milk chocolate and sweet almond. The mid-palate reveals roasted coffee, toasted oats, and a toasty-nutty grain character. Medium bitterness provides balance against the malt sweetness. The finish is medium-sweet and gourmand, featuring lingering notes of vanilla and cocoa without being cloying.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a signature silky, velvety texture and an almost oily slickness from the oatmeal. Moderate carbonation with a noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Smooth and creamy throughout.
