Vice Beer Not Getting Any Younger

Imperial IPA 10.5 º 90 IBU
This Triple IPA presents an unapologetically bold sensory profile that belies its substantial 10.5% ABV. Built upon a foundation of clean, neutral malts, the focus remains squarely on the intense, resinous interplay of citrus and pine. The aromatic bouquet is high-intensity, delivering sharp grapefruit zest and forest floor notes that transition into a clean, firm bitterness on the palate. Despite its strength, the beer maintains a remarkable drinkability, finishing medium-dry with a lingering hoppy resonance. It avoids the heavy maltiness of a barleywine, instead emphasizing a crisp, hop-forward character and a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth that defines a powerhouse Double IPA.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper with moderate clarity and a faint, permissible haze. Topped by a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Prominent to intense hop aroma characterized by bright citrus peel, pungent pine resin, and a hint of tropical fruit. The malt profile is supportive and neutral, providing a soft, grainy background. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters, while the high alcohol presents as a smooth, non-solventy sweetness.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of citrus and resinous hop flavors. Bitterness is very high but expertly managed to avoid harshness or astringency. A lean, light-caramel malt presence supports the hop onslaught without adding significant weight. The finish is dry to medium-dry, leaving a clean, lingering bitterness and a trail of piney hop oils.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a prickly lift that lightens the palate. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its high alcohol content without being hot or fusel.
