Vetra Vetra Black is a bold, modern reimagining of the Munich Dunkel style, brewed with a nod to Czech tradition by fermenting at ultra-low temperatures. This patient lager fermentation coaxes out unexpected depths of clean, deeply toasted Munich malt character. Rich aromas of warm bread crusts, subtle cocoa, and toasted nuts lead into a velvety, full-bodied palate. Despite its robust 6.8% strength, the beer finishes surprisingly clean and dry, balancing rich malt sweetness with a light, spicy herbal hop touch. Appearance. Deep dark brown with brilliant clarity and ruby highlights. Crowned by a dense, creamy, medium tan head with excellent retention and persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity malt-forward profile featuring rich toasted bread crusts, cocoa, and lightly roasted hazelnuts. A faint herbal and spicy hop aroma plays in the background, backed by an exceptionally clean, ester-free lager fermentation profile. No harsh burnt or acrid notes.
Taste. Initial impression of rich, bready malt sweetness quickly giving way to toasted crust and dark chocolate flavors. Balanced by a medium-low bitterness that keeps the malt dominant without becoming cloying. Extremely clean fermentation character with a soft, medium-dry finish and a lingering, smooth, nutty malt aftertaste. No roasted or burnt grain harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a smooth, velvety, and dextrinous texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcoholic warmth is present due to the 6.8% ABV, but it remains soft and devoid of any harsh fusels or astringency.
