This American Stout presents a deep, playful complexity inspired by the forest. The foundation of Pils Weyermann and Munich I Weyermann provides a sturdy malt backbone, while Carafa Special I Weyermann and Caramonaco 2 Weyermann layer in rich, sensory-heavy notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and subtle licorice. The addition of oat flakes contributes a notably smooth, velvety texture. While the style demands a firm presence, the use of Perle and Spalt hops introduces a refined, herbal and spicy counterpoint to the intense roasted grains. It balances an English-inspired sweetness with a bold, American-style roast profile, finishing with a lingering cocoa elegance.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque in the glass. It features a large, persistent, light tan head with excellent retention and thick lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Low earthy and spicy hop notes from the Perle and Spalt varieties are present. Clean fermentation profile with very light hints of dark fruit esters.

Taste. Strong roasted flavors of espresso and toasted grain lead the palate. Medium-high bitterness is balanced by a low to medium malt sweetness featuring chocolate and caramel. Low spicy hop flavor. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, smooth roasted character and no acridity.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, smooth texture enhanced by the addition of oat flakes. Moderate-high carbonation provides a crispness that balances the weight. Light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
