De Brouwerij werd door Adolphe en Paul Verhaeghe opgestart als brouwerij-mouterij. Na het einde van de tweede wereldoorlog kwam de brouwerijsector in een stroomversnelling. Het biertype Pilsener, een onder gistend bier, brak definitief op de Belgische markt door. “Brouwerij Verhaeghe-Vichte” die reeds langer lager bier brouwde, besteedde vooral aandacht aan de kwaliteitsverbetering van haar bestaande bieren en aan de creatie van hogere kwaliteitsbieren. Nominaties bij internationale wedstrijden bleven niet uit: eerste prijzen werden aan de “Brouwerij Verhaeghe-Vichte” uitgereikt voor haar bieren “Vichtenaar” en “Echt Kriekenbier”.
