Si presenta con un bellissimo colore rosso scuro quasi tendente al marrone,la schiuma è leggera, decisamente persistente e ma abbastanza sottile e cremosa.
Già dal primo impatto si percepisce l'impronta acetica di questa birra, nella versione in bottiglia export di questa recensione i toni acetici sono smorzati da l'aggiunta di un dolcificante effettuato al momento dell'imbottigliatura.
Questa scelta da parte della casa produttrice è fatta per rendere questa birra più facile ed adatta al grande pubblico. Aroma fruttato abbastanza deciso, soprattutto di mela (leggermente acerba e aspra) e di prugna. Il corpo è splendido, pieno e avvolgente, con toni legnosi abbastanza pronunciati.
Per ottenere il massimo dalla degustazione (e anche per favorire un po i sentori acetici) la Duchesse du Borgogne in Bottiglia è splendida quanto servita con i fichi e la crostata di frutta
La Duchesse du Borgogne nasce da una tecnica produttiva sfruttata spesso col le birre rifermentate in botte, infatti dopo la staginatura in barrique di rovere viene tagliata con del prodotto più giovane e poi imbottigliata.

Duchesse de Bourgogne is the traditional top fermented reddish-brown ale from the West-Flanders region of Belgium. This refined ale also known as “The Burgundies of Belgium” is a blend of 8 and 18 months old ales following careful maturation in oak casks. 100% natural and unpasteurized.
It is a sweet-fruity ale with a pleasant fresh aftertaste. This ale is brewed with roasted malts and with hops with a low bitterness. After the main fermentation and the lagering , the beer then matures further for many months in oak casks. The tannins in the oak give the beer its fruity character. It has a full, sweet and fresh taste : it is a ruby red jewel of 6.2 % alc. vol., that best is served in a chalice-shaped glass between 8 and 12°C. A perfect beer.
