Vendale Corum is an elevated American Amber Ale that bridges the gap between traditional craft roots and modern strength. At 7.5% ABV, it presents a rich sensory tapestry defined by caramelized malts that offer deep toffee and toasted bread notes. Despite its classification, the use of English hops introduces an elegant, earthy, and slightly herbal spice that counters the malt sweetness. The aromatic profile is a balance of rich caramel and understated floral hop character. On the palate, a robust malty backbone provides a smooth, medium-full body, finishing with a balanced bitterness and a touch of well-integrated alcohol warmth.
Appearance. Deep copper to reddish-brown (14–17 SRM) with excellent clarity. It supports a moderately large, creamy off-white head with persistent retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring prominent caramel malt sweetness, accompanied by notes of toasted crust and light toffee. The hop aroma is low to moderate, displaying earthy, woody, and floral characteristics from the English hops. Clean fermentation with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial malty sweetness yields to a complex layer of rich caramel and biscuity malt flavor. The hop flavor follows the aroma with herbal and earthy tones. Bitterness is moderate, providing enough structure to balance the elevated gravity without becoming aggressive. The finish is medium-dry with lingering notes of toasted grain and a subtle, smooth warmth.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, pleasant alcohol warmth is present due to the higher ABV, but it remains clean without astringency.
