This collaboration between VAUX and Northern Monk reimagines the English IPA with a contemporary hop profile. It pours a vibrant orange, immediately releasing a high-intensity aroma of fresh grapefruit driven by a bold blend of US hops, complemented by the floral and spicy nuances of traditional UK varieties. The sensory experience is anchored by a sturdy foundation of bready and biscuity pale malts. The palate delivers an assertive, clean bitterness that balances the citrus-forward hop flavors. It finishes remarkably dry and crisp, staying true to the style’s tradition of high attenuation while embracing modern aromatic intensity.
Appearance. Deep orange (approx. 10-12 SRM) with a slight haze consistent with modern dry-hopping. Supports a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with good lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity featuring prominent grapefruit and citrus zest. Subtle floral and spicy hop notes are supported by a medium-low bready, biscuity malt character and faint fruity esters.
