The addition of lactose provides a heavy, velvety body that coats the tongue, balancing the assertive roasted character of charred malts. While the high alcohol presence provides a comforting warmth, the profile remains smooth and indulgent, finished with a subtle resinous hop touch characteristic of the American Stout style, creating a deep, dessert-like experience.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM) with a large, persistent light-brown head. The liquid exhibits a distinctive shimmering quality from suspended edible glitter which sparkles like diamonds against the dark body.
Aroma. High intensity of rich dark chocolate and cacao nibs, followed by prominent creamy vanilla. Moderate roasted coffee and charred malt notes are supported by a faint resinous hop character and a clean, warming alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely decadent with bittersweet chocolate and vanilla bean. Moderate to high roasted malt flavors of espresso and toasted grain are present, balanced by the significant sweetness of lactose. Bitterness is firm and provides a necessary counterpoint to the rich adjuncts. The finish is long and creamy with lingering cocoa and smooth, well-integrated alcohol.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a velvety, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. Features a pronounced but smooth alcohol warmth typical of its high strength, with minimal roast-derived astringency.
