Varvar Brew’s Hoppy Lager reimagines the classic German Pils as a vibrant gateway into craft beer. This lager is defined by its pristine clarity and a pronounced aromatic profile achieved through meticulous cold hopping. Expect a bright bouquet of flowery and herbal hops that dance over a delicate base of toasted cracker and light honeyed malt. The palate is exceptionally crisp and refreshing, delivering a firm, clean bitterness that cuts through the subtle grainy sweetness. Appearance. Brilliant straw to light gold (approx. 3 SRM) with exceptional clarity. Topped by a dense, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderately high hop aroma featuring distinct flowery, spicy, and slightly herbal notes enhanced by dry-hopping. Supporting this is a low, clean malt character reminiscent of fresh dough and lightly toasted crackers. Fermentation is impeccably clean with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impressions of grainy-sweet Pilsner malt and a touch of honey are swiftly overtaken by an assertive hop bitterness. Flavors of spicy and floral hops are prominent.
