Upside Down No Gravity: El Dorado, Citra
This Hazy IPA presents an intense sensory profile driven by the synergy of Citra and El Dorado hops. It opens with a vibrant burst of tropical fruit, featuring prominent notes of ripe mango and sweet pineapple anchored by bright lime zest and ruby red grapefruit. The 15° Plato grist provides a soft, bready malt foundation that supports the massive hop charge without adding cloying sweetness. Despite its approachable 5% ABV, the beer delivers a lush, juicy experience with a characteristically smooth, pillowy texture. The finish is clean and refreshing, featuring a restrained bitterness that allows the complex stone fruit and citrus aromatics to linger.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold (3-5 SRM). Opaque, uniform haze with a luminous quality. Large, rocky white head with exceptional retention and thick, decorative lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with dominant notes of tropical mango, pineapple, and citrus zest. Subtle bready, grainy malt in the background. Clean fermentation profile with very light fruity esters that complement the Citra and El Dorado hop characteristics.
Taste. High hop-forward flavor of tropical stone fruit and citrus oil. Medium-low bready malt sweetness provides balance. Perceived bitterness is low to moderate and exceptionally smooth, lacking any harshness. Finishes off-dry to medium with a lingering, juicy aftertaste of fruit nectar.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, rounded, and pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation. No perceived alcohol warmth. Completely smooth with no astringency or hop burn.
