This decadent English Barley Wine presents a masterful blend of maturity and fresh complexity. Extensive aging in Côtes du Rhône barrels imparts a sophisticated vinous character and a gentle tannic vanilla backbone that weaves through a foundation of rich caramel. The addition of Genoa figs and Deglet Nour dates elevates the profile with dense, sticky layers of dark fruit, complementing the natural esters and deep malt character of the style. The result is a lush, multi-layered experience where the high alcohol provides a soft, integrated warmth, finishing with a lingering elegance of dark sugar, dried fruit, and red wine influence.

Appearance. Deep dark brown with brilliant ruby highlights and significant depth of color. It supports a low, creamy off-white head with modest retention. High viscosity is evident through thick legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a strongly malty core of rich caramel, toffee, and toasted bread. Pronounced aromas of sticky Deglet Nour dates and honeyed Genoa figs meld with vinous red wine notes and a subtle vanilla oak character. Low earthy hop notes and soft, rounded alcohol esters of plum and raisin are present.

Taste. Initial impression is deeply malty and sweet, featuring layers of complex caramel and biscuit. Intense flavors of dried fig and date provide a jammy richness, balanced by a smooth tannic backbone from the Côtes du Rhône barrels. Hop bitterness is moderate but subordinate to the malt, leading to a moderately sweet, lingering finish of dark fruit and warming, well-aged alcohol.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the creamy mouthfeel. A smooth, significant alcohol warmth is present without being harsh, accompanied by a light, pleasant wood-derived astringency.
