Up Front Brewing

This American Pale Ale offers a vibrant sensory interplay between traditional Scottish Pale Malt and modern whole leaf hops. The addition of oats provides a soft foundation for the Mosaic and Citra hops to shine, delivering a bold profile of mango, pineapple, and passionfruit alongside zesty lemon and lime. Fermentation with a Norwegian farmhouse yeast culture introduces a distinctive layer of fruity and spicy esters that elevates the tropical fruit notes. Balanced by a moderate bitterness and a clean, sessionable finish, this beer showcases a bright, grapefruit-led citrus character while maintaining a smooth, creamy texture that belies its accessible strength.

Appearance. Pale golden to light amber (SRM 5-7). Moderately large, persistent white head with fine lacing. Generally clear, though the addition of oats may impart a very slight, attractive haze.

Aroma. Moderately high hop aroma featuring prominent notes of pineapple, mango, and passionfruit, supported by citrusy grapefruit and lime. The fermentation character is notable, offering spicy and fruity esters. Low grainy-sweet maltiness with a hint of breadiness provides a subtle background.

Taste. A hop-forward initial impression dominated by tropical fruit and citrus flavors. High hop flavor of mango and lemon pith is balanced by a moderate bitterness that does not linger harshly. Low bready malt flavor is present, complemented by a subtle spicy yeast character. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with a lingering note of grapefruit peel.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a noticeable creaminess from the oats. Moderate carbonation. Very low alcohol warmth, appropriate for the ABV. Smooth finish with no astringency.
