Unibroue Quelque Chose

Fruit Beer 8 º 21 IBU
This Fruit Beer offers an authentic nectar experience, defined by months of cherry infusion against a backdrop of dark roasted malts. It opens with a dense, mahogany-red hue and an aromatic tapestry of deep black cherry, toasted bread, and the spicy, phenolic esters characteristic of Unibroue’s yeast profile. The palate is rich and vinous, balancing the natural tartness of whole cherries with luxurious layers of dark chocolate, brown sugar, and a mild hop bitterness. Its versatile nature allows for a warming, spice-accented complexity when served hot, or a crisp, fruit-forward refreshment when served chilled, finishing with a lingering, sweet-tart cherry resonance.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark ruby-brown (25-35 SRM) with a fine-beaded, pinkish-tan head that displays moderate persistence. It exhibits brilliant clarity with a subtle ruby highlight when held to the light.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by luscious black cherries and dark stone fruits like plums. Significant malt presence provides notes of toasted bread crust, cocoa, and light molasses. Subtle spicy yeast phenols and fruity esters like raisin complement a very low earthy hop character.
Taste. A harmonious blend of intense cherry fruitiness and rich malt complexity. Initial flavors of sweet cherry and dark chocolate transition into notes of caramel and toasted grain. The fruit provides a refreshing acidity that balances the residual sweetness. Hop bitterness is low, allowing the fruit and malt to lead. The finish is long and flavorful, with a lingering cherry-skin tartness and a smooth, warming alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety viscosity. Carbonation is moderate to moderately high, providing a creamy texture. Noticeable alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any harshness or fusel notes.

Quelque Chose was launched in January 1996. This versatile beer was specifically developed as a winter beer because, when warmed to 70ºC (160ºF), it can be taken as a hot drink. On the other hand, on the rocks, it is a wonderful aperitif. The cherries are soaked for months in slightly bitter ale before being blended into the beer. Quelque Chose is made with dark roasted malts, and the end result is something commonly known as an authentic nectar. The most original of the Unibroue line, it is highly appreciated by winter-sports enthusiasts.
