This imposing Imperial Stout presents a decadent sensory profile inspired by Vietnamese culinary traditions. At a robust 10.2% ABV, it opens with dense aromatic layers of bittersweet dark chocolate and intense roasted espresso. The addition of aromatic vanilla provides a creamy, marshmallow-like sweetness that bridges the gap between the heavy charred grain and the dark fruit esters of black currant and prune. A delicate addition of salt sharpens the rich cocoa notes, creating a salted-caramel undertone that lingers on the palate. Velvety and viscous, the experience concludes with a warming, harmonious finish where scorched earth meets smooth, confectionary indulgence.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. It supports a thick, deep tan head with moderate retention that leaves oily legs on the glass, indicative of its high viscosity and alcohol content.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant aromas of roasted coffee beans and bittersweet chocolate are complemented by a pronounced, creamy vanilla sweetness. Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous with a chewy, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the luscious mouthfeel. A smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present throughout, providing a comforting, heavy presence without any harsh astringency.
