This celebratory West Coast Double IPA exudes an intense, resinous hop profile typical of its gold-medal heritage. Pouring a brilliant deep gold, it immediately releases pungent aromas of grapefruit zest, sticky pine, and hints of tropical mango. The 8% ABV provides a structural warmth that supports a firm, assertive bitterness without veering into harshness. Utilizing five hop varieties, the palate is dominated by classic citrus and resinous notes, backed by a clean, neutral malt backbone that ensures a dry, drinkable finish. It is a bold yet refined representation of the Double IPA style, balancing high hop intensity with a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel.
Appearance. 6-9 SRM; brilliant clarity; deep gold to light copper color. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with prominent notes of grapefruit, resinous pine, and citrus peel. Low, neutral, grainy malt character in the background. Clean fermentation profile with very low fruity esters and a subtle, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of hop flavors including citrus, resin, and a touch of tropical fruit. High bitterness that is firm but smooth and not harsh. Low, clean malt flavor supports the hops without adding significant sweetness. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a long, lingering hoppy and bitter aftertaste.
