This Hazy IPA, a collaboration between Uchu Brewing and Green Cheek, radiates a vibrant tropical energy. The addition of flaked oats creates a lush, pillowy foundation for a saturated hop profile featuring Citra and Motueka. High-intensity aromatics of ripe mango and zesty orange dominate the nose, followed by a complex palate of sweet pineapple and succulent melon. The Motueka hops provide a distinctive lime-citrus undertone that brightens the deep stone fruit character. With its characteristic opaque glow and soft, velvety mouthfeel, the beer balances a gentle hop bitterness against a juicy, fruit-forward finish that lingers with clean, citrus-driven refreshment.
Appearance. Opaque, pale straw to light gold with a soft, radiant shine. Topped with a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with pungent tropical fruit notes of mango and sweet pineapple from the Citra hops. Motueka contributes bright lime zest and mojito-like citrus. Low bready and grainy malt character provides a subtle background, while fruity esters from the yeast blend seamlessly with the hop-derived stone fruit.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of juicy tropical fruit—specifically melon, mango, and orange. The Citra hops provide a deep citrus base, while Motueka adds layers of sweet tropical lime. Low to moderate bitterness is well-masked by the substantial malt body. The finish is off-dry and exceptionally smooth, featuring a lingering aftertaste of pineapple and citrus oil without any hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, creamy texture enhanced by the use of oats. Carbonation is moderate, providing a gentle lift. A subtle alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated; the beer is free of astringency or raw starch sensations.
