Imperial IPA 8 º
This Double IPA radiates an intense tropical energy, driven by an aggressive Triple Dry Hopping of Citra, Motueka, Nectaron, and Rakau. The sensory profile is dominated by a supernova of ripe fruit, specifically lush mango, juicy pineapple, and tart passionfruit, sharpened by a zesty lime edge characteristic of Motueka. The inclusion of Cryo Citra amplifies the citrus intensity while maintaining a clean profile. Beneath the hop saturation, a lean, grainy malt base supports the 8% ABV, providing a well-integrated warmth. It finishes dry and exceptionally bright, leaving a lingering impression of resinous lime and sweet stone fruit.
Appearance. Luminous deep gold to pale orange (SRM 6-8). This modern interpretation exhibits a pronounced, creamy haze with a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop bouquet featuring pungent passionfruit and crushed lime zest. Layers of sweet mango and nectarine follow, supported by a background of citrus oil and a clean, neutral malt sweetness. Fermentation is clean with low, fruit-forward esters.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of pineapple and tropical stone fruits. The hop flavor is complex, showcasing lime and mango, backed by a moderately high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. A soft, grainy malt backbone provides structure before transitioning into a crisp, dry finish with a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture likely enhanced by oats. Carbonation is moderate, and there is a restrained, pleasant alcohol warmth. No hop-derived astringency is present despite the heavy dry-hop additions.
