Two Tribes

Metroland Tokyo presents a vibrant, lean sensory profile inspired by the crisp refreshment of Japanese lager traditions. The addition of rice creates an exceptionally clean, dry canvas that allows the dual hop profile to take center stage. Azacca hops drive an intense tropical core of bright pineapple and mango, while Summit provides a sharp, refreshing citrus zest and subtle floral undertones. This American IPA is defined by its breezy, highly drinkable nature, balancing a light, crackery malt base with a snappy bitterness. It evokes the neon-lit energy of Shinjuku’s alleyways with every crisp, citrus-forward sip and its lingering, bone-dry finish.

Appearance. Pale gold (3-5 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a tall, frothy white head that exhibits excellent persistence and leaves fine lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring punchy grapefruit and orange peel from the Summit hops, layered over ripe pineapple and tropical stone fruit notes from the Azacca. The malt presence is low and neutral, offering a faint hint of white bread or puffed rice. Clean fermentation profile with no significant esters.

Taste. The initial impression is sharp and citrus-forward. Bold flavors of tangerine and lime zest lead into a mid-palate of tropical pineapple. The malt is minimal, providing just enough light, crackery support to carry the hops without adding sweetness. Medium-high bitterness is clean and well-integrated. The finish is remarkably dry and crisp, thanks to the rice adjunct, leaving a short, refreshing aftertaste of lemon pith and pine.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, slightly thin texture. High carbonation provides a lively, tingling sensation on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is non-existent, emphasizing the beer's sessionable qualities. No astringency.
