The sensory experience is led by a bold interplay of resinous hops and the vivid, sweet-tart aromatics of fresh strawberry and blueberry. Behind the fruit and hop-forward intensity lies a subtle foundation of toasted malt and cocoa, characteristic of the Black IPA substyle, though kept lean to ensure a crisp, refreshing drinkability. At 6% ABV, the balance remains firmly on the vibrant berry notes and a clean, firm bitterness, finishing dry with a lingering suggestion of dark fruit and pine.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to opaque black (35+ SRM); thick, persistent tan head with excellent lacing; brilliant clarity at the edges of the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; prominent resinous and citrusy hop character blended with distinct, jammy notes of strawberry and blueberry; low supporting notes of toasted bread and dark chocolate; clean fermentation profile with no esters.
Taste. Immediate impact of tart berries and piney hops; medium-low malt flavors of cocoa and light toast without harsh roastiness or acridity; medium-high to high bitterness that is firm but smooth; dry finish with a lingering berry and hop resin aftertaste.
