Back To Black is a striking Black IPA that masterfully balances the aggressive hop character of a New World IPA with a refined, dark malt backbone. The sensory experience begins with intense aromas of resinous pine and bright citrus, layered over subtle hints of toasted bread and light chocolate. On the palate, a firm, assertive bitterness drives the profile, complemented by flavors of grapefruit zest and a clean, restrained roastiness reminiscent of a Schwarzbier. The finish is remarkably dry and crisp, avoiding any heavy acrid or burnt notes, ensuring high drinkability while maintaining a complex, shadowy depth that honors its name.

Appearance. Opaque black with deep mahogany highlights (SRM 35+). Topped by a persistent, creamy, light tan head that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of resinous pine, grapefruit peel, and subtle blueberry. The malt provides a supportive background of light cocoa and toasted crust without any acrid or burnt character. Very clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial punch of citrus and piney hop flavors followed by a medium-high bitterness. The malt profile is restrained, offering hints of dark chocolate and coffee that integrate smoothly with the hop load rather than clashing. Finishes dry with a lingering clean bitterness and a faint, pleasant roasted grain aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a crisp bite that enhances the dry finish. Alcohol presence is very light and well-integrated.
