This Hazy IPA, a collaboration between Two Flints and Beak, celebrates the concentrated character of late-harvest Motueka hops. Infused with hop kief, the profile exudes a lush, tropical intensity that transcends typical New Zealand hop profiles. A vibrant bouquet of key lime pie and fleshy mango dominates the senses, supported by a distinct sweetness reminiscent of clear gummy bears. The late-season harvest imparts a richer, more saturated fruit depth. Its soft, pillowy texture carries these potent flavors across the palate with minimal bitterness, finishing with a bright, citrus-driven persistence that highlights the unique agricultural timing of the hop selection.
Appearance. Opaque straw to light gold with a soft, glowing haze. Topped by a dense, rocky white head that displays excellent persistence and leaves thick, meringue-like lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High-intensity aroma driven by late-pick Motueka, featuring bright key lime pie, ripe fleshy mango, and a distinct sweet citrus confectionery note. Background malt is clean and lightly bready, while fermentation esters are supportive and fruity, ensuring the hop profile remains the primary focus.
Taste. Explodes with saturated tropical hop flavors, specifically succulent mango and zesty lime curd. The mid-palate offers a grainy, lightly bready malt backbone that balances a sweet, gummy-candy fruitiness. Bitterness is restrained and smooth, lacking any harshness or vegetal character. The finish is clean and off-dry, lingering with a refined citrus oil essence.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a characteristically soft, pillowy mouthfeel. Carbonation is moderate, providing enough lift to prevent heaviness. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, with no perceived astringency or hop burn.
