Raving Granny is a bold, intensely hop-forward American IPA that exemplifies the classic West Coast profile. A powerhouse of Citra, Chinook, Cascade, and Columbus hops creates a pungent sensory experience defined by sharp grapefruit, resinous pine, and a hint of orange zest. A thoughtful addition of Simcoe hops deepens the complexity with earthy undertones. The clean, grainy malt backbone remains supportive, allowing the aggressive bitterness to shine without being harsh. At 7.6% ABV, it presents a crisp, dry finish and a lingering hoppy aftertaste, balancing its strength with a bright, citrus-driven character that remains refreshing and focused.
Appearance. Deep gold to light reddish-amber (approx. 9 SRM). Clear with a persistent, medium-sized off-white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma characterized by pungent resinous pine, grapefruit, and orange zest. Supporting notes of spice and light floral tones are present. Low, clean, bready maltiness provides a neutral foundation. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. High hop flavor echoing the aroma's grapefruit, resin, and pine. Bitterness is firm and high, dominating the profile but supported by a low, grainy, slightly toasty malt character. The finish is very dry and crisp with a long-lasting, clean, hoppy aftertaste. Clean alcohol notes are subtly present.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly resinous texture. Medium-high carbonation. Displays a light, smooth alcohol warmth and no perceptible astringency.
