BRLO

This Black IPA emerges with a striking contrast of shadowy malts and vibrant, fresh hops. The addition of two types of rye malt introduces a distinctive spicy bite that cuts through the rich, toasted foundation. Expect an assertive hop profile leaning toward resinous pine and citrus, which harmonizes with restrained notes of dark chocolate and coffee from debittered roasted grains. The balance is firmly hop-forward and dry, showcasing the clean fermentation and crisp bitterness typical of the style. The rye malt provides a textural complexity and lingering peppery finish, making this a bold, shadow-dwelling beast with surprising drinkability.

Appearance. Deep ebony to black (35 SRM) with high clarity despite its depth. It is crowned by a dense, persistent light tan head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of resinous pine and grapefruit. This is supported by a moderate malt backbone of toasted bread, light cocoa, and a unique peppery spiciness from the rye malt.

Taste. Bold initial impression of citrusy and resinous hops followed by a moderate toasted malt flavor. Restrained chocolate and coffee notes appear without harshness or ash. The rye malt provides a sharp, spicy bite that complements the high bitterness. The finish is dry and lingering with a clean, hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a crisp lift, while the 6.4% ABV contributes a very light, well-integrated warmth. The rye adds a touch of pleasant graininess.
