Bear Necessities by TVØL Brewing presents a vibrant collision of sharp acidity and lush hop character. As a Wild Specialty Beer, it balances a distinct sourness with a heavy double dry hop of Amarillo and Nelson Sauvin. The profile is led by the Nelson Sauvin’s signature white wine and crushed grape notes, intertwined with Amarillo’s bright citrus and lemon zest. A hazy, pale yellow pour delivers high-intensity aromatics of lychee, green apple, and tropical berries. On the palate, the tartness is refreshing, magnifying the hop-derived flavors of gooseberry and stone fruit. It finishes dry and crisp with a lingering berry-like sweetness and citrus pith.
Appearance. Pours a hazy, pale straw to light gold (SRM 3-5). Features a moderate white head with fair retention that leaves light lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of lemon zest and lychee from the Amarillo hops, coupled with the distinct white wine, gooseberry, and grape character of Nelson Sauvin. Subtle notes of green apple and sweet tropical fruit are supported by a clean, lactic sourness.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, refreshing tartness. Strong hop flavors of white grape, citrus pith, and mixed berries dominate the mid-palate. Low crackery malt sweetness provides a minimal backbone. The finish is quite dry with a lingering tropical fruit and citrus aftertaste, featuring very low bitterness that does not clash with the acidity.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation that enhances the perceived crispness. Very low alcohol warmth despite the 6.8% ABV. Smooth mouthfeel with no significant astringency.
