Disco Jester offers a contemporary evolution of the Ordinary Bitter, pivoting from its American-hopped origins to showcase the vibrant potential of British agriculture. The sensory profile is defined by the unique interplay of Jester, Harlequin, and UK Chinook hops. Jester and Harlequin contribute modern layers of tropical fruit, grapefruit, and stone fruit, while the UK Chinook provides a grounding resinous and spicy depth. This hop complexity sits atop a clean, bready, and biscuity malt base. The result is a sessionable yet characterful ale that balances traditional British bitterness with a bright, fruity aromatic profile and a crisp, dry finish.

Appearance. Pours a pale amber to light copper color with brilliant clarity. It is topped by a low to moderate off-white head that shows fair retention and leaves light lacing.

Aroma. Moderate hop aroma featuring notes of apricot, tropical fruit, and citrus from the Jester and Harlequin hops, alongside a resinous, herbal quality from UK Chinook. The malt character is low to moderate, presenting as freshly baked bread and light biscuit. Low to moderate fruity esters complement the floral hop notes.

Taste. The palate opens with a medium to moderately high bitterness that is well-supported by a bready and lightly toasted malt backbone. Hop flavors are expressive, echoing the aroma with notes of grapefruit, stone fruit, and an earthy, spicy pine. The fermentation character is clean with light fruitiness, leading to a decidedly dry and bitter-forward finish with a lingering herbal aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. It exhibits a smooth texture without astringency, featuring a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth that enhances its drinkability.

TURNING POINT BREW CO. We are a small team of beer lovers with a clear mission: Brew our favourite beers, and have a good time. Our brewery recently relocated to Knaresborough, after two (and a bit) years at our original site in Kirkbymoorside. The brewery launched into orbit in 2017, with Aron & Cameron calling time on the day jobs and never looking back.
