This Hazy IPA is a vibrant showcase of the Citra hop, delivering a sensory experience defined by its intense single-hop character. The aroma is a bright, airy bouquet of fresh tangerine, sweet orange, and zesty pomelo. On the palate, the beer mimics freshly squeezed orange juice intertwined with herbaceous lemongrass notes. The addition of flaked grains provides a velvety, moderate body that softens the impact of a low, grapefruit-like bitterness. It is a refreshing and highly aromatic beer where the tropical and citrus characteristics of the Citra hop shine through a clean, fruit-forward profile with a smooth, approachable finish.
Appearance. Pours a hazy, pale straw to light gold with a soft, orange-tinted glow. It is topped by a dense, white, meringue-like head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma dominated by Citra. Pronounced notes of fresh tangerine, navel orange, and zesty pomelo lead the profile. In the background, a clean, neutral, and slightly bready malt character supports the fruit without any distracting caramel or toast.
Taste. Initial impression is one of lush, freshly squeezed orange juice. Mid-palate introduces hints of lemongrass and tropical citrus. The hop bitterness is restrained and low, carrying a pithy grapefruit quality that balances a subtle, off-dry malt sweetness. The finish is smooth and clean with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notable velvety, soft texture derived from flaked grains. Carbonation is moderate, enhancing the refreshing quality of the beer. There is very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no harshness or astringency.
